Pittsburgh's Historic Market District

Announcing Our New Executive Director

unnamed (3)Please join Neighbors in welcoming our new Executive Director Sara (Posteraro) Dinges coming to us most recently from Chicago and returning to her hometown of Pittsburgh. Sara is excited to join Strip District Neighbors. She brings ten years of experience in economic and community development, with attention to small business development, historic preservation and district marketing and events.

Most recently Sara was the Executive Director of Uptown United, representing a bustling historic community on Chicago’s north side. She was instrumental in innovative projects, such as the building of Chicago’s first “shared street,” and worked closely with business owners, property owners and developers to leverage 700 million dollars of investment pouring into the community, while working to maintain its character. Prior to her work in Uptown, Sara oversaw economic development and communications for the 48th Ward, a district with 60,000 residents and 800 businesses. She worked daily on issues related to zoning, licensing, financing and how to open a business A-Z.

As the Managing Director of the Andersonville Development Corporation, Sara co-developed a groundbreaking environmental initiative for small businesses, and because of its recognition, has been a guest speaker at the international USGBC Greenbuild Conference and the national Main Streets conference. She has sat on retail and business task forces for the City of Chicago and is known as an advocate for small businesses and smart development throughout the city.

Sara is thrilled to bring her passion for healthy, vibrant districts home – especially to a neighborhood she has patronized and loved her entire life. “I don’t make a trip home to Pittsburgh without visiting the Strip District, La Prima cappuccino in hand.”

Sara holds a BA in urban studies and a minor in Italian from the University of Pittsburgh. She first started working in community development as a COPC intern at Oakland Planning and Development Corporation. Sara returns to Pittsburgh with her husband, Peter, and toddler, Theo. She will start the week ofJuly 18th after wrapping up her work in Chicago. The Neighbors Board of Directors is planning a meet-and-greet to introduce Sara to all of you. Details of the meeting will be shared closer to her arrival.

Sara stood out among what was a sizable group of talented applicants. Her experience, expertise, and energy as well as her knowledge of and love for the Strip District really shined through and we couldn’t be more excited. We know that you will be as well.
